okay so, we took our dogs that we believed to be sick with parvo into the vet today and they do have it just like we thought they did.
we’re going to continue to take them in like the vet is saying and let them try to help with keeping them hydrated like they are, since there is no cure and all they can do is help them try to fight it off. it could take days or maybe weeks and there’s not guarantee that they’ll survive or that any of them will, but we have to try at least. we love our dogs too much to put them down without a fighting chance.
thing is, we still aren’t going have enough money and we don’t know how much we will need. again, it could take days to weeks for their bodies to fight off the virus on it’s own with the vet’s help. without getting too specific, we’re going to need 50 dollars per dog each day that they’re there. and there’s three dogs so, 150 dollars per day.
but, instead of using the gofundme we were going to use a few days ago (we made it when we only assumed that this was going on and wasn’t too sure that they were this sick and didn’t know what we would be paying at the time); we’re going to take paypal donations, since we don’t know how much we’re going to need in particular. i don’t feel right setting a specific goal with gofundme since we don’t know how much we’ll need. that and, i feel that a specific goal would be intimidating towards people.
but yeah, we’re going to take donations and i have a button set up on my blog so you can help us all out with donations if you can.
and i’ll keep you all updated on all of our dogs’ condition as the days go on if you’re at all concerned about them. thank you for listening and i’d appreciate it a lot if you spread this around.

My name is Abby. I am a female, 19 year old, disabled college student and I stand with Emma Sulkowicz, but I have something to say to her that I truly hope she hears.Emma Sulkowicz is a student at Columbia University who has been carrying around the mattress on which she was sexually assaulted as a performance art piece. Earlier today in her call to action for others around the country to carry their own mattresses in a show of support for victims and survivors of sexual assault, Emma asked that her supporters not carry pillows, stating that “pillows and ‘light’ and ‘fluffy.’” She stated that “sexual assault is neither a “light” nor “fluffy” matter, and we cannot treat it as if it were,” and suggested that by carrying pillows we are simply taking away from the number of hands to carry mattresses and instead said that people mark should themselves with a red “x” to show their willingness to help carry the weight.
But I cannot help carry a mattress. Carrying a mattress, even with a team of people, is not simply a difficult task for me, it is an impossible one. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I walk with a cane. I am disabled. For me, even carrying a pillow is incredibly difficult, and I am far more privileged than many people with physical disability in that I can even carry that. If I were on crutches, in a wheelchair, or the use of my arms was more inhibited in any way, carrying anything would be out of the question.
According to Rape Response Services, almost 80% of people with disabilities are sexually assaulted on more than one occasion. Women with disabilities are at least twice as likely as the general population of women to be victims of sexual assault.
While I understand that Emma Sulkowicz wants to make an impact and retain the artistic integrity of her piece, disability is the often forgotten intersection in feminist activism, and I was disappointed to see her lack of consideration for those of us who cannot carry the physical weight, but are at a much greater risk to be forced to carry it emotionally.
We can’t all stand with Emma Sulkowicz.
Edit: This is a link to her original op-ed in which she presents her call to action: http://columbiaspectator.com/opinion/2014/10/26/call-carry-weight-together
This is a close friend of mine (In fact, we administrate a chronic illness/disability support group together) and I am so, so proud of her message. Please don’t leave disabled people out of your feminism.

The first U.S. President who was a KKK member was William McKinley, who was a former Union officer, according to kkk.org. Not much is known about his involvement with the Klan, but many union men joined the KKK during its First Era during the Radical Republican’s anti-white Reconstruction Era.
Woodrow Wilson was the second U.S. President to be a KKK member. According to Nick Ragone’s book, “Presidents’ Most Wanted: The Top 10 Book of Extraordinary Executives, Colorful Campaigns, and White House Oddities,” Wilson was known as a virulent racist and actually helped Klan membership skyrocket by providing screenings of The Clansman and Birth of a Nation for members of his Cabinet, Congress, and the Supreme Court. Wilson’s ideology helped pave the intellectual foundation of the campaigns of racist Dixiecrats Strom Thurmond and George Wallace. Wilson is also credited with allowing Washington D.C. to become Jim Crow territory. He also never shied away from speaking publicly about the ‘benefits’ of segregation.
Warren G. Harding was the next president who was a KKK member. According to kkk.org and the book The Fiery Cross, Harding was actually sworn in at a KKK ceremony that was held at the White House by Imperial Wizard Colonel Simmons. Harding was not the only president to allow Klan activities to be held on White House grounds.
Calvin Coolidge was a well known and active Klan member who allowed cross lightings on the Capital steps and also reviewed the giant Klan parades of 1925 and 1926 that were held in Washington D.C..
Harry S. Truman is the final U.S. President to have ties to the KKK that are known and documented. While he was not a prominent member, he did pay dues to the organization between 1920 and 1922. He eventually parted ways with the Klan due to their disapproval of his appointment of Roman Catholics to key political positions.

It looks like the family is getting help printing flyers and such, but this showed up on my feed and I wanted to share. Not just to help find Ian, but to spread awareness for the dangers of meeting people on Craigslist. If you live in the Portland Area please be aware of the Craigslist scam. This scary has been posted in others places in Oregon and Washington as well.
Please share to help find Ian!
